I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!! Brice and I don't really do V-Day gifts, just enjoy each other's company and go to dinner. He wouldn't let me split dinner with him so I got him a little gift I thought he would enjoy!

He loved it!! I'm so happy :)

We also found a house that was just listed yesterday that we are both in LOVE with. It's right in our price range, great neighborhood, location, and has every ammenity we wanted in a house. We are going to see it tomorrow - please say LOTS of prayers for us that someone doesn't put an offer on it before we are able to. I WANT THIS HOUSE!!!

Brice's sister Allison and her boyfriend Shannon got engaged last night!! CONGRATS ALLI & SHANNON!

Also, Don't forget to watch my friend Chelsea on Survivor tonight at 8pm EST on CBS! You can just TiVo American Idol. And if you are in Charleston... her party is at Midtown :)

First of all... I hate negativity towards Valentine's Day. It's not just a mushy day for couples, it's a day to tell EVERYONE in your life you love them and how much they mean to you! One year I went out and celebrated Valentine's with my other single friends and we had a blast! I made them red velvet cup cakes and bought them little gifts! So no negativity people!!

Hiii! Sorry it's been a while, haven't had much to post about! My life has consisted of wedding planning and house hunting which are both extremely stressful. I wish I could snap my fingers and be in a house and have all wedding planning done!

First of all... moment of silence for Ms. Whitney Houston. Cannot believe she is gone, my first cassette tape! "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" will always and forever remind me of my childhood. First Michael (other childhood fav) and now Whitney...

If something happens to Cindy & Debbie I may lose it!

2012 Wedding Season has begun!

Thaaaat's right! 2012 wedding season has officially started and it may just be busier than 2011... eek.

Did NOT think that could happen?! This weekend we kicked things off with Haley & Thomas' engagement party! So fun... I love getting dressed up and everyone getting together!

Changes

Some good and bad changes have been going on as of late... let's begin with the good.

First of all... I got some legit hair extensions. This was a serious process... I annoyed my friend Ashley to death while making them. I had to dye the low lights. I made this so much harder than it really was... I should have taken a photo of the ridiculousness. My kitchen looked like a murder scene with little pieces of hair laying all over it. But... here is the final product

This was put together in a hurry... and pre-highlights.

One of my besties Colleen is having a baby... um, like right now as we speak. But backing up a few days... we decided last week we would have a girls night. Mexican, games, music and drinky drinks! And we would dance and get that baby out of her! (She was scheduled to be induced this Thursday if she hadn't had her by then) Well well... this morning I got a text she was headed to the hospital! yippee! I've been on the edge of my seat all day. Still waiting for that sweet little girl to come out and say hello!

Hello!

Been a little slack lately... but I've just been busy! This is going to be a SUPER RANDOM post. As if they all aren't super random.

What's going on in my life? Oh, just the usual...

Got a new nail polish that I love and don't care that it isn't spring yet, I'm wearing it anyways.

Brice bought me this amazing wine stopper. It does quite a few things...

a) comes in cute colors

b) preserves your wine

c) isn't as tall as most wine stoppers so you can stand it up in your fridge

d) if you still can't stand it up, it's sealed so good you can lay it on the side without worrying about it spilling.

After talking with some friends this weekend I've decided to begin drinking my coffee out of a straw to prevent my teeth from getting stained. Trick is you have to make sure your teeth stay around the straw so that the coffee goes right past them!

One great thing about Tervis tumblers... they have a little spot for a straw to fit in the top. :) I love you Tervis

Has anyone tried the Redken product line "Intra Force"? It's supposed to help thicken your hair in 30 days... I'm just about out of my Redken Body Full, so I might need to try this... for anyone who has tried it, does it work??

Save the Dates are going out this week and like most people we have listed our wedding web site at the bottom so guests can view our registry, see hotel information etc. On the radio this morning they were talking about people who have these sites and how gramatically incorrect they are. Oh no... I mean, I type the way I talk so this isn't good. Oh well, our families and friends know us and if they love us, they won't judge us! :)

On another fun little note... my friend and old roomie Chelsea is on the upcoming season of Survivor! Can't wait to watch her dominate some people! Everyone tune in February 15!

For a few weeks now I thought Kellie Pickler's new album, 100 Proof, was coming out next Tuesday, January 17. Why did I think this you ask? I have no idea! But I've been SO excited about it! Needless to say my heart just dropped when I realized it would be released on Tuesday, January 24..... a whole week later.

Seems a little stupid to complain about - BUT - it's the little things I look forward to!

Also, one week from today I shall be getting ma roots done (finally... I feel like people are starting to judge)

Last night our group of friends all got together for a little Chinese Gift Exchange. If no one knows what that is allow me to explain.

You set a price limit (ours being $20) and everyone brings a gift (good gift or a joke). Everyone draws a number and this is the order you pick your gifts. For example #1 goes first... picks a gift and opens it. #2 can either take #1's gift or pick one to open. And so forth. Whoever opens the last gift has it really good... because she can pick ANYONE'S gift or get the last one.

We had so much fun - thought I'd share a few pictures from the evening!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Been a little on the MIA side this week but that's only because I did absolutely NOTHING this weekend - and loved every minute of it. So, not too much to post about. However in the upcoming days I've got lots of fun activities.

It's pretty clear that Michael Kors is my favorite designer... I have 4 purses, a watch and I can go up to any shoe display or clothes display saying "OOHHH I NEED THIS" without even having the slightest clue it's Michael Kors until I look at the tag. I don't even look at other designers bags - Michael is the only designer for me :) I believe this is going to be the next purse on my list - simple and classic, the medium Grayson Logo Satchel.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Is it Friday yet? I'm so looking forward to the fact that I have absolutely NOTHING on my calendar for this weekend. Well, except for RELAXING! Cannot wait!

So onto What I'm Loving this Wednesday, December 7th.

I'm loving the fact that I have THREE Christmas parties next week! Super pumped about that. My friends and I are having a Secret Santa gift exchange and dinner on Wednesday, I have Brice's Palmetto Society party on Thursday, and Saturday my friend Kira & her roomies are throwing a big Christmas cocktail shindig - in which I get to wear sparkle, my favorite!

This is what I'm thinking about wearing...

I wore this in 10th grade for a high school pagent... except we attached a big peacock tail to it for a mardi gras theme. This was not "the" pageant dress. But look how festive it is for Christmas! Now I just have to figure out my jewelry.

I did think about wearing this little gold number from New Years a couple of years ago, but thought I'd go with something a little different. Unless of course I change my mind last minute!

What can I say, I love to sparkle!

Another addition to all of this Christmas festiveness would be these cute little heels my mom bought me! I'm going to have to put an outfit together around these puppies for one of the parties.

I'd also like to say I'm loving the progress on Hwy 17 in Mt. P. Ok, so we have a long way to go...but yesterday morning I noticed this bridge that just popped up over night...

I'm pretty sure everyone that lives or works in Mt. P is so OVER this construction! And anyone that doesn't live or work here just completely avoids the area. I don't blame you. I am so tired of looking at orange cones. But... better get used to it it's going to be 2013 before it's over! yuck. I'm hoping it will all be well worth it.

Lastly, who watched the ACA awards Monday night?? Ok, I think it was Monday. My days are all screwed up. Anyways... how cute was Carrie? I mean, this comes as no shock to me.

She was like a little pink cupcake. And I never would have been able to pull off those shoes with that dress - but she can because she is Carrie! Love her and I'm still working on legs like that... how does she do it?! I know her workout moves and I do a lot of the same ones with Jillian. Maybe it's just not in my genes. Or maybe it's because I sit at a desk all day instead of running around on tours and working with personal trainers. IDK.

Being slack as always of course. Thanksgiving went by WAY too fast and I am already ready for my Christmas break... although I'm not ready for the holiday season to be over quite yet!

Last night, Brice and I decorated for Christmas! I really CANNOT WAIT for us to have our own house next year and have a REAL tree that smells so good!! Brice claims this tree can be an AUBURN tree... I'm pretty sure it won't! haha Not unless it's upstairs in a game room or something. If we're so lucky to have one!

This weekend we have a Christmas party with Brice's family. The theme you ask? Tacky Christmas Sweater of course! I actually found one already in my closet from oh, probably 5th grade. I used to wear it with stirrup pants... I'm sure that looked so pretty. I found this little headband to accompany my tacky sweater! $1 at Target!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that last week I got two Christmas presents early. A new lens for my camera and a speedlight. I don't like the built in flash it makes everything too bright. So ~~Brice and~~ I decided to take a photo tour downtown! Some images from the day...

Yes, that would be Ms. Carole King. I'm serious... I creepily followed this lady around for a good 30 minutes. I swear it was her. I even went to the cd section to get a cd and compare. She smiled at me as I passed... in case it in fact WAS her, I feel special :) Anyone know if Carole King is in Charleston or has a place here??

Ok that is all for now... going to fix some hot cocoa and then realize after watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show that I should in fact eat lettuce instead.

David's Bridal Blog Review

Recently I was lucky enough to be a part of the David's Bridal Blog Tour. I had already chosen a wedding dress but I knew that I would have to have some cocktail/special occasion dresses for fun parties such as engagement parties, showers, bachelorette weekend etc.

I had in mind to get only one dress... but decided to head straight to the sale rack (as I usually do in ANY store) and see if they had any left over goodies. I gravitate to summery colors anyways plus my wedding and parties will be mostly taking place in the spring/summer.

WOW. There are SO many dresses to go through... half of the store is pretty much special occasion dresses. They have a selection of everything from prom dresses to bridesmaid dresses and everything in between.

OMG I came out of there with not just one dress... THREE great and super cute dresses! I found this one that I am going to wear on my bachelorette weekend (wherever that may be!)

It's so cute and it has pockets too that you can't see right now. It also ties around in the back. Can't wait to prance around in my veil with this on! :)

I tried on this fuchsia dress as well. SO cute on but it was a little loose... and I'd rather not have to have anything altered.

Can you say Barbie? I believe so.

I found my other two dresses on the sale rack... I'd post pics but I would like SOME of my dresses to be a little surprise! One is light pink and flowy that I can wear to a shower. The other is black on the bottom, white at the top and has a fuchsia band around the waist. Sounds a little much but I promise it's cute! I may wear that one to my friend Haley's rehearsal dinner in March :)

Overall my David's Bridal "Special Occasion" experience was great. I wasn't hounded by sales reps - which is a pet peeve of mine. Just let me shop, I don't need you following me around giving me suggestions!! Sorry if that sounds rude... I just like to be on my own when I shop, take my time and not feel pressured. They had great deals (sales on top of sales). So for $150 I got 3 dresses... not such a bad deal!

Almost that time of year!

I don't know about y'all but I have been getting in the Christmas spirit EARLY this year. I don't now what it is... but it seems like everyone else is too. Is it just me or did the Christmas music on the radio and decorations at the mall not show up until Thanksgiving when we were growing up? Well, a local Charleston radio station (95.9 for you Charleston people) already has Christmas music playing 24/7 (yippee!) and last week I noticed the candy canes already lining in front of our Town Center and Christmas lights galore. This makes me say "oh, I think I need to decorate my place too". For any of you that don't know this already... I LOVE Christmas time and all of the lights, glitter, music and movies that come along with it.

Thought I'd share today a few of my favorite Christmas albums that will be on repeat until New Years.

Miss Mariah Carey... I'm sure everyone that grew up in the 90s has this album. It's just such a classic. Even though we will hear "All I Want for Christmas is You" 95,603,343 times this season... I will NEVER get tired of it and proceed to sing it at the top of my lungs each and every time.

Elvis Duets. Seriously, this album is GOOD. Elvis fan or not... you've gotta love his Christmas tunes! PS. Carrie sings with him on one track. It's amazing of course.

Finally, my girl Jessica. I LOVED Jessica Simpson in college and never missed an episode of Newlyweds. This Christmas Album is a MUST.

Anyone remember the Nick & Jessica Family Christmas Special?? My roomie at the time, Colleen, and I recorded this on our VHS tape in the dorm room and proceeded to watch it pretty much everyday.

Birthdays & Babies

Happy Monday! Glad it's O-V-E-R!

The past week/weekend consisted of my birthday festivities, and one of my BFF's baby showers!

For my birthday we had a huge group out for sushi at Bambu, I seriously have such wonderful friends!

One plus to your birthday is getting free dessert... In this case, they brought free dessert for the whole table! They dispersed these little bowls of delicious cinnamon sugar donuts and caramel all around the table.

I went home to Columbia for the weekend to a) celebrate with my family and b) ORDER MY WEDDING DRESS... eek! Also, bought 3 dresses for $20. More on that in another post!

I also got to see my favorite flat faced snorter...

Sunday Brice and I scurried back to Charleston early because I had one of my best friends baby showers! AHH Baby showers are SO much more fun than wedding showers! Everything is just so cute... and even better if it's a girl because everything is Pink and Green.

By the way... her little girls name is going to be Lilly Kate. How precious?! I'm in love with that name and let's not forget the fact that for the rest of her life she can buy "The" Lilly clothing/accessories with her name already printed. Love!

Catching Up

I have been so MIA lately! Seriously busy schedule and I'm not gonna lie, just couldn't muster up the energy to write anything! L-A-Z-Y.

So here I am playing catch up! This is what's been going on as of late...

Another engagement pic was posted! I love this one because it was taken at Shem Creek which is where we met! :)

We went to Atlanta to visit Brice's family and celebrate fall birthdays! This photo was taken very late... after a night of playing Just Dance 2 AND 3. I'm pretty sure I've gotta get that for my Wii! So much fun!

We went to the Coastal Carolina Fair... aka redneck riviera. This is the greatest place to people watch. I admit I am guilty of LOVING fair food. But my tummy still feels disgusting after eating a corn dog, french fries, funnel cake and mozzarella sticks. blehhh.

On a lighter note, I found this amazing pink cowboy hat! Great look for me isn't it? I kid I kid!!

This past weekend we headed up to Chattanooga, TN to visit our friends Cole & Anna! They got married in August and it was great to catch up with them since we don't see them often!

We had a cocktail at the Chattanooga Choo Choo... this is so cute and such a neat place!

We climbed aboard the Silver Diner on the choo choo to snap a pic... I kinda felt like I was on the Polar Express and needed a hot chocolate!

Cole & Anna were the proud winners of darts... I got a couple of bulls eyes though! woohoo!

At least we aren't sore losers! :)

This Wednesday is my birthday... the big 2-8 ahhh.. my mom was 28 when she had me. This is the weirdest feeling! Looking forward to a yummy dinner with great friends!

P.S. I found my wedding dress!!!!! And I HATE that I can't post it because I'm so excited about it. Guess y'all will just have to wait until July! :)

Ready for the Weekend!

As some of you may know, we had our engagement session yesterday!

SO FUN. We took a lot in downtown Charleston and then went out to Boone Hall Plantation and took a lot more.

I just LOVE the oaks and it was such a perfectly clear day. The photos in the evening will most likely be my favorite. I love the golden glow that the sun creates through the trees!

Our wonderful/amazing/best photographer ever Courtney Dox posted a photo on Facebook today, so I thought I'd share. I will share some more in the next week!

I don't know about y'all but I am SO ready for the weekend to start. It's been a busy busy week! And it's about to be an even busier weekend. Headed to Atlanta to celebrate our engagement (finally!) with the rest of his family!!

The Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I can proudly say I'm still going at it and feel 10 times better than I did going to the gym. And I'm done in 30 minutes! I HIGHLY recommend this workout! I can see major changes already and I'm still on level one. Yes, I tried level 2 and grunted more than ever before. I had to just say no and go back to level 1! But I think I'm ready to try it again!

2012 Wedding Season has begun!

Yes... that is right. After 2011 being such a crazy wedding season I was sure that 2012 would be a break and everything would slow down. Well, not so much! Not only has mine and Brice's wedding planning begun, but I attended my first engagement party of the year, and one of my best friends and bridesmaids got engaged on Thursday! {Congratulations Hay!!}

Haley & Thomas... how cute are they?!

My good friend Laura is getting married in May and we had her engagement party last night in Aiken, SC. It was so much fun to catch up with friends who we don't get to see that often!

And what a good sport Brice was, he missed out on not only going to the Auburn game... but watching it as well. Bless his heart, I know how hard that was for him! And we were in a house full of Clemson fans... so you know that tv wasn't changing channels. rude.

Laura is using the same photographer as I am. The oh so talented Courtney Dox! She just posted a few pictures from their engagement session yesterday... how gorgeous is this?!

We were supposed to have ours last week but because of rain had to be scheduled for this Tuesday... guess what it's supposed to rain again so I had to schedule for Wednesday. PLEASE everyone pray hard for no rain!!

Friday night we had our first oysters of the season at the Annual Palmetto Society Oyster Roast. Always such a fun event!

My good friend Anna and her husband Ben went with us. Can I please show you how adorable her dog is?? OMG I am stealing him!!

Speaking of our wedding... I heard on the news last Friday that the worlds 80th largest yacht was stuck in the Charleston harbor right in front of our reception venue. Brice and I knew we had to go check this thing out!

It was SO much larger in person. Anywho... Saturday morning my dad read in the paper that it was not stuck as most assumed, it was anchored. And that it was Will and Jada Pinkett Smith! They decided to come for a visit in Charleston... (aka America's #1 City hehe)

I mean, I wish that I was friends with them so I could go aboard and sip champagne, lounge and sunbathe. Every time I crossed the bridge I would look... and nope, not a person in sight! Maybe they were sight seeing? I heard they were seen in the market area downtown.

PS. This is one of our views... love!

We met up with Brice's parents and his mom had this beautiful bracelet for me! I am in LOVE with it and coincidentally the aqua stones match my wedding color :)

My parents came in town as well, we all had such a great time together! Sophie also came... look how cute she is, this is her favorite perch on my couch. I think she thinks she is a cat!

I think she was actually pouting here b/c she knew we were getting ready to leave and go shopping!

We shopped around on Saturday for a Rehearsal Dinner venue. This was definitely a goal we needed to accomplish! We booked High Cotton and I couldn't be happier, it has the exact look and feel I was hoping for :) Not to mention the best Shrimp and Grits I have ever put in my mouth... YUM.

With everything going on I haven't even had a chance to polish my nails. I feel like Vivian in Legally Blonde with the "bony unpolished finger"

On a lighter note, I got my roots done... hallelujah! This is simply one of the greatest feelings in the entire world!

Unfortunately our engagement photos were cancelled on Monday due to the random tropical storm that blew through. Thankfully they are rescheduled for next week!

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas PLEASE send them my way!

I MUST share the iPhone image (sorry I really am being lazy and don't feel like uploading the one from my camera) of the yummy steak dinner Brice and I grilled on Monday night.

Yes, that would be a large piece of steak topped with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes (that I sauteed a little first with a bit of butter, oil from the st jar and lemon juice) and chopped fresh basil. HOLY MOLY. Love me some roasted asparagus and purple potatoes make me happy!

I WILL make this again. Soon.

HIII!!! Sorry I have been so incredibly busy lately... my life has been full of wedding planning/stressing/excitement for the past 2 and a half weeks! I'd first like to point out what I have managed to accomplish in that short amount of time. Not tooting my horn or anything, just saying... I think I've done pretty good!

I mean... this is A LOT Oh wait, I'm forgetting the fact that I also started working on our web site today. I wanted to have some parts of it out of the way so that once we register and get our engagement photos back I can just pop those on in there and get those Save the Dates out!

Brice's family is coming on Wednesday and staying through the weekend. Mine is coming over the weekend so hopefully we can knock out our guest lists!

I enjoy checking things off lists... can't you tell?

Besides wedding planning, I've also had an extremely busy work load lately. So I've come home, stuck my head in a wedding magazine and gone to bed. But I thought I'd share some pics (didn't want to bore anyone with just writing about my wedding) from the Brooke vs. Brice Bowl this past weekend.

Yes, that would be the AUBURN vs. SOUTH CAROLINA game. Unfortunately, my team did not win. But to be quite honest with you both teams played HORRIBLE so neither team should be that proud of anything.

I now have realized that I haven't had time to write anything worthwhile on my blog... I haven't read anyone elses blogs either. I also have not picked up ANY of the 4 magazines I received in the mail this week. This is typically something that makes my day. I've been entirely too busy at work and too busy stressing over this reception venue.

We've got it down to about 2 or 3. But really, there is just one that I really want.

SO.... say lots and lots of prayers for me that I can get that venue! If so, after Tuesday it might be happy blogging, facebooking, twittering from here on out! I certainly hope so at least. I am ready to start workin on all the fun details!! And DRESS SHOPPING!!

Our engagement!

As many of you may know Brice and I had planned on going to Coast for dinner Thursday night for Charleston Restaurant Week. I didn't notice anything weird at dinner, but Brice did down two beers pretty quickly and kept texting on his phone (he complained last weekend when I pulled out my phone to look up something "I don't like it when people are on their phones at the dinner table!"). We had already decided before that it would be nice to take a walk in Battery Park after to walk off our dinner. Plus... Charleston is just so gorgeous at night!

As we started walking around Brice started talking about our wedding season being over and how it will be fun to start planning our own wedding! I think I was just like "oh yeah that will be fun!" Super oblivious. After that it just got mushy and I really don't remember anything he said and then noticed him fiddling with his pocket! Let's not forget the fact that he also had started sweating and his voice was shaking! haha poor Bricey. It was all a complete blur... and I don't really remember much about what was said but I just jumped up and down a lot!!

We called our families and I sent out a big text to all of my friends. Brice mentioned that he wanted us to go get a celebratory cocktail at Red's which is where we met each other. When we got there all of our friends were there to greet us! What a great surprise! I was SO happy that all of our friends were just as excited as we were... we have SUCH wonderful friends!

We left for Columbia Friday night to stay with my family on the way to Clemson. We popped a little bubbly and told everyone the whole story... and how I had already figured out a wedding date... in a day. I was just a little excited and antsy on Friday!!

It feels like Friday

Seriously, it really does feel like a Friday! And I think it should be.

I guess it's because I have so many things going on right now to look forward to. {which is a good thing, just BUSY with a lot on my mind!}

Tonight, Brice and I are going to Restaurant Week round two. We're going to Coast because we absolutely love Coast. {Plantain Encrusted Mahi Mahi... YUMM} And then walking around downtown because a) I just love downtown Charleston at night - all of the restaurants smell SO good! and b) we're probably gonna need to walk off our dinner!

I heard about this video on the radio this morning... haha!! Old people trying to figure out a web cam!

Tomorrow we are leaving for Columbia so I get to see my little Sophie! I cannot wait.

The other day I was playing around on iTunes and I remembered I wanted to hear some of the Pistol Annies songs. I mean, how can you not love Miranda Lambert?

I LOVED all of their songs. However I do have a few favs off the album.... Lemon Drop, Boys from the South, and Takin Pills. Y'all please go listen to this if you haven't already! I'll probably buy a couple (or all) soon! I'm already very excited for her Baggage Claim album as well! {should be coming out sometime soon...}

Also, my inner nerd is SUPER excited about the newest installment in the Twilight series... Breaking Dawn. So you KNOW I got excited when THIS came out. {they don't have an embed on youtube for it yet... so click on THIS}. I got goosebumps!! You better believe I will be at that midnight showing! Last time we got rained on... hopefully not this time! It IS in my birthday month for goodness sake. That can only mean good things!

And last but certainly not least... THIS comes out next Tuesday!! AHHH I cannot contain my excitement!!

I want a puppy!!

Yes... I want a puppy!!

Am I getting one? No. :( But I really really want one!

I think I just miss my little Sophie Annabella WAY too much! We got Sophie when I was living at home with my parents {Yes - that happened at the age of 25} Sophie was my little buddy! I mean, I call her my little sissy for goodness sake.

Clearly, I'm not getting a dog seeing how my parents have random $800 vet bills b/c oh, Sophie has an itch. Did I mention she has her own dermatologist?? Ummm I don't even have a dermatologist. This is ridic. But whatev for little Princess Sophie.

But if I DID in fact have a dog, it would have accessories such as this...

ummm this is a MUST.

Crazy Weekend Recap

Happy Monday everyone!! This weekend was quite eventful. First, I'd like to just say sorry for these ALL being iPhone photos. I didn't have my camera with me either night, which never happens?!

Friday night as many of you may know, Brice and I had dinner at Amen Street for Charleston Restaurant week. On the way to dinner I took this photo from the top of the parking garage. Charleston is simply the best city in the world... LOVE!

They took a while getting to our table, so they gave us a free appetizer of fried green tomatoes - YUM!. Total, this is what all we had to eat:

Fried Green Tomatoes (with pickled okra & pimento cheese)

Fried Calamari (the best)

Shrimp & Grits (I ordered this, obvi)

Seriously, did we need this much food? NO. Did we eat it all? YES. With the exception of some left overs that we brought home.

Here is a picture I took of the calamari... simply bc it was AMAZE. The best calamari I have EVER had!

After dinner we headed to The Gin Joint, a prohibition era bar. Every cocktail includes gin. Which I am not a fan of, however they make it actually taste delicious! I had the Gin & Basil Smash (which was delish!! I didn't take a photo though). Look at Brice's cute little Mint Julep! I especially love that the waiters wear suspenders and a bow tie! :)

It made me seriously want to plan a trip to the Derby next year.

Saturday morning was the typical....

After the Auburn game we headed over to Kira's "Kiki" house to watch our Gamecocks take on the Georgia Bulldogs! This game could not have been more stressful! However we came out on top and won! woohoo!! It was then time for celebration... which somehow ended up into a Halloween/beer pong/college party??? We are 27/28 years old. promise.

Good times were had by all... now I'm gearing up for our trip to Clemson this weekend for the AUBURN game! Gonna be another fun one!

Brice informed me that Auburn fans will wear navy and Clemson will wear orange. (Auburn wears navy when away if the teams both share the color orange... who knew?!)

Can we first begin with What I'm NOT Loving Wednesday?

I almost thought Palmetto Bug season was over. Oh, I guess I was wrong. I heard a little noise a minute ago ... I must have good ears because lo and behold I saw the enemy over by my door. He must've smelled my new pumpkin spice candle and thought he would come on in for a little treat. I seriously wish I had a camera set up watching me try and kill this harmless bug.

Harmless... YES. Although, disgusting and I act like he {like I really know the gender of a cock roach} could kill me? YES.

Seriously prancing around my living room on my tippy toes with a large can of Raid. I finally killed the nasty specimen but he was a tough one! eww. I just hope it gets cold soon. For this reason alone!

However, I went on my nightly rummage and routine of standing in the middle of my kitchen like "hmmm do I have any good snacks? (keep in mind I wrote this on Tuesday night) Chocolate in particular??" I ended up finding these little treats... totally forgot I had them! Don't worry, they are still good I keep them in the freezer. YUM.

I'm loving that I just found out that Charleston Restaurant Week starts TODAY!

Brice and I love going every year and trying a new restaurant that we have never been to since there are SO many great restaurants here! We made reservations for Amen Street this Friday, so excited!! And we are going to go back to Coast next week because a) it's one of our favorite restaurants and b) their restaurant week menu sounds amaaaazingg! If you are not from Charleston, but have seen the movie Dear John... there is a scene showing them leaving dinner from Coast. Of course I got really excited and pointed this out immediately.

It's officially football season!

Let me just start by saying that this is going to be a really long post...

I thought I'd share with y'all a tomato pie recipe that I cooked for Brice and me on Thursday night. It was SO good! Healthy? Not one bit... but that is what makes it so yummy!

Ingredients

4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 (9-inch) prebaked deep dish pie shell (I used Pillsbury)
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Punch a few holes in your pie shell with a fork and place in the oven until lightly baked.

Place the tomato slices on a a few sheets of paper towels. Salt and let sit for about an hour.

Layer the tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Season with salt and pepper. Combine the grated cheeses and mayonnaise together. Spread mixture on top of the tomatoes and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

To serve, cut into slices and serve warm.

I didn't take any photos of the "cut pie" b/c it is a little messy! Doesn't quite come out so perfect like pictures suggest. However, still tasted delicious!!

Friday, I came home to a little treat! I had been working on this Auburn belt for Brice for quite a while. Yes, every little stitch took about 2.5-3 weeks to complete. But I ended up REALLY enjoying it! I could do it for a living - no lie.

He has always loved the Smather's and Branson belts. In my opinion, this is WAY better! I designed it AND made it. So special :) Not to mention, Smathers and Branson doesn't have as many "AU's" around it and it also doesn't say "AUBURN" - BAM.

So happy!

He also had a little treat for me too!

Friday night we prepared our meat for Saturday. Please take a look at this, Brice's first attempt at butterflying a flank steak.

And then we marinated it in red wine and shallots... YUM! Then let it sit overnight.

Saturday {aka GAME DAY} we enjoyed some mimosas while preparing the rest of the marinated flank.

Top with fontina cheese and basil leaves...

Roll up, tie with kitchen string, coat with olive oil, salt and pepper.

Grill it!!

Slice and top with basil leaves and a cabernet reduction!

Sunday night we headed up to Red's so I could hang out a little with Christy who was on the Race with me! She lives in Austin, TX so we never see each other. It was so great to see her and meet her sweet fiance, Eric!

This blog post has interfered with Bachelor Pad... I must get back to my love/hate relationship with that show! Praying for Vienna and Kasey to GO HOME!!!

On a random note... I'm making a tomato pie for the first time tonight for Brice. I'm so excited! I've always wanted to make one. Can't wait to see how it turns out! I'll be sure to take pictures for tomorrows post.

I am a Carolina fan, no I didn't go there but my parents did so I was born and raised a Gamecock. Brice went to Auburn so I pull for them when they don't play us! It's a lot easier to do on the off years (we only play them 2 years then we have off 2 years).

We have an amazing menu prepared for Saturday. Two words: Bobby Flay. Get excited... I'm sharing the recipe next week!

Oh, and I almost forgot... my new fragrance for fall. I have always been a huge fan of Armani Mania... but after bottles and bottles (plus it's hard to find) I decided I needed something new. My Lilly Perfume is just about out... so I went to Ulta and sniffed sniffed away. Of course... I went Armani AGAIN! Can't seem to get away from that guy.

Armani Code shall be my fall fragrance... so far I'm obsessed! It may just carry over into the winter as well. I got a small bottle just in case I didn't end up just loving it. But I do. :)

Last Wedding of the Year!

As many of you may know, we attended our LAST wedding of the year this past weekend in Gulf Shores, Alabama. {Don't get me wrong, I love weddings... we've just been swamped lately!} The bride and groom are two of Brice's best friends from Auburn. It was great to see everyone and catch up since everyone lives all over the place! It was also nice to see WHITE sand again... oh how I wanted so badly to go back to Rosemary Beach... we were so close!!

The whole weekend was at The Beach Club Resort. It was beautiful! Here are some photos from the weekend:

Goooood Morning!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I am EXHAUSTED after traveling over 1200 miles (10 hours each way) to Gulf Shores, AL this weekend! Yes... ALL in a weekend! This will all be in another post.

However, I thought I'd share my new plan. I've been super slack on the gym lately. I'm just kind of bored and it's SO hot outside that by the time I get home from work I don't want to leave my apt. (It's also been rainy a lot of afternoons which leads to snuggling on the couch with my fall candles burning and a cup of hot tea) So this is my new solution: Enter Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.

One of my parents neighbors did this and lost a lot of weight. It's not that I need to lose weight but I'd like to get a little more toned. Have any of you ever tried this? It will take up less time than going to the gym, and I can do it in the morning before work if I know I have something to do that night and won't have time (HA HA I'm pretty sure that won't happen... but it's just another reason for me to purchase this)

To Tom or Not to Tom?

I've thought about buying a pair of TOMS Shoes for a while. The only thing that has held me back is well, let's face it... they just aren't cute. It's such a great cause though and I've heard they are SO comfortable! I've found some that look my style...

I also just realized they come in a wedge! Cute!

I only wished they had sparkly wedges... then it would really be right up my alley.

I'm sure most of you know that for every pair of shoes you buy they donate a pair to a child in need. This would make me feel so good!! I love helping people, and wish that somehow I had a ton of money so that I could actually help others. Right now it's just a dollar here and there at the grocery store. Let's also not forget founder, Blake Mycoskie, is a fellow Amazing Race Alum... shout out to Season 2! He actually got the idea for TOMS while traveling through Argentina on the Race. I can totally see where he is coming from too. I saw the same poverty while in Brazil... it is SAD y'all. I believe everyone needs to see this to truly appreciate what you have.

I don't know about y'all but I am SO ready for Fall! It really doesn't help that all of the 2011 Fall Fashion issues are coming out on the stands either. And when you go into a store... all you see are cute fall clothes. Yes, you may purchase but you cannot wear until it cools off A LOT! Unfortunately down here in good ole SC it doesn't cool off until maybe November. Sometimes we get some chilly days in October but it's still relatively warm! At least during the day.

What Fall "Stuff" I am loving.... {all images via Pinterest}

I love layers!! I also love the warm colors of fall... sometimes I feel that I look better in these colors rather than bright summer colors.You can just do so many fun things with accessories in the fall. In the summer it's like "what dress is the lightest and coolest while still being cute?!" Typically, a Lilly dress is all it takes.

HATS... a la Miss Carly Simon. Seriously, love her and p.s. this is one of the greatest albums of all time. I know all of the words to every song and am not ashamed to sing them at the top of my lungs! {And yes, I have corrected people in the middle of singing karaoke "You're So Vain" when they get the lyrics wrong}

I have a deep purple hat similar to the one above that I can't wait to wear. I've had it since college, but really didn't have anywhere to wear it. SO happy to see them in magazines for this fall.

Darker nail polish - bright summer colors start to not look as pretty when my skin gets paler. These are my two fall/winter staples other than deep red.

My grandma bought me a bottle of this little miracle product this weekend. Oh my goodness it is a little bottle of happiness! It always NEVER FAILS that I mess up my nails right after painting them. Even when I {think} they might be dry... they aren't and then I have a messed up nail that I hate and end up picking at. Well, this shall happen no longer!

This weekend we headed on up to St. Matthews, South Carolina for Cole & Anna's wedding! It was such a fun weekend and we loved seeing a lot of our friends from Atlanta that we don't get to see often. The band was AH-MA-ZING I'm so having them play at my wedding one day. I mean, I might just plan my wedding around THEIR schedule. Seriously. Oh, it was Men of Distinction. Sorry, forgot to mention the bands name! They incorporated the whole wedding party and made everyone get out on the dance floor. I really didn't want to leave! Not really... but it sure felt like it!! Last night we had a crew out at Midtown to celebrate one of Brice's best friends birthdays! John Shafer is now 30. Also, Cole came in town to play. You may remember last summer when Cole got engaged to his sweet girlfriend (now fiance!) Anna! Well this weekend is his wedding and I cannot wait for the festivites to begin. Happy Wednesday!! Finally over that hump! Since summer is coming to an end {so sad!} and if you're like me you are having less time at the beach because either a) you are out of town for weddings or b) it's just too darn hot. Because of this you are losing your tan!! {dreadful!!} Here are two products that will seriously extend your little summer glow :)

The first product I have only used for about a week. Brice's sister introduced me to this after I commented on how tan she always was. News to me that it came from a tube! Could have fooled me!

Hello L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Gelee (GELEE is the key word here... not lotion)

I even put this stuff on my face... drys fast, no streaking, no orange, and most importantly no stinky smell!! LOVE this stuff and I hope L'Oreal never stops production!

The second little tube of love is one I've been using for about a year now and am obsessed. I like to use it only on weekends so it lasts longer. It gives you such a gorgeous tan glow.. and it smells amazing! I always get compliments, little do people know it is not perfume - it's the bronze!

At Ulta you can purchase this in a small $10 tube {at the kiosk in front of the check out counter} or in the LORAC section you can purchase the larger $32 bottle. I'm pretty sure the $32 bottle would last me a year... the $10 one lasts forever b/c a little goes a LONGGG way! Another reason to love! I've seriously had the same little tube all summer. Mixed with lotion it really spreads good. This works out so perfect in the winter too because it gives a glow to dull pale skin. In my opinion, shimmer and sparkle just make my day happy!

I wish I had before and after photos... I'll have to take pics of that this weekend and post next week.

Oh, I almost forgot... MT.PLEASANT PEOPLE... if you haven't tried the new Basil already, GO. I went last night for a girls dinner {shout out: Kira "Kiki", Amanda, Jenny, and Colleen!} and I love that it is SO much larger than the Basil downtown. The outdoor seating is awesome as well. So happy this is approx. 10 min from me! :) I dominated my plate of Pad See Ew. Amazing... but my tummy hurts today!

Spit mouth & Vienna Sausage

Seriously... let's first talk about how annoying Kasey's voice is. He sounds like he has a wad of spit in his mouth. If I have to see his tattoo and hear him say "I will guard and protect your heart" one more time I might scream. Also, how strange is it when Kasey tries to be all rough and tough to Jake then goes off and makes out with Vienna right before previews show her AGAIN yelling at Kasey "you were supposed to protect me!!" while crying. WOW - I have no words for her... she is CR-A-ZY. Vienna Sausage is a whiney brat. THE END.

Though I'm not a fan of Jake, and think he tries way too hard for people to think he's this super nice guy... I still have to root for him over Vienna Sausage and Kasey wad-o-spit.

Weekend Recap: Hootie!

This weekend as most of you know was filled with the Hootie & the Blowfish homegrown concert. And yes, it was everything I had hoped for and more! Friday night we had a good little group and great weather! It was overcast with a nice breeze... which was amazing given the 100+ degree temps we've been having! (ready for fall!)

Of course they look perfect on Carrie!! I need to get me a pair of these jorts... the thing I love is you can wear them into fall. Especially since it's hot here in SC until November!

Trader Joe's Marcona Almonds with Rosemary

OMG... these are the most amazing almonds I've ever had. They have the perfect amount of salt and rosemary. Brice's sister Allison introduced them to me last fall and I fell in love. Now that we have a Trader Joe's here in Charleston I can have them whenever I want :) They have become my daily morning snack!

Excitement for football

Seriously... CAN'T WAIT for football season to start! I know it will most likely take over my beach weekends, but it's just so exciting I don't think I care! GO COCKS!

Hootie & Toad

This weekend is the Homegrown Concert on Daniel Island. Brice and I got the weekend passes which means.... TWO NIGHTS OF HOOTIE! Toad the Wet Sprocket is opening Friday night and Sister Hazel is opening Saturday night. I couldn't be more excited... already planning what outfit to wear in my head.

Hootie & the Blowfish may have been huge in 1995 but they are still huge here in Charleston since they are fellow South Carolinians and a few if not all of them live in Charleston! I'm still waiting to see Darius somewhere and get a picture with him... it would be a dream! I have had a few sightings...

NEW hair product to LOVE!

I have very thin hair, but it has a little wavy texture to it so it's usually pretty easy to get volume... just tough for it to actually STAY! My hairstylist put a little of what is called "hair powder" at my roots and it gave it the exact lift that I needed. I really didn't want to spend the money on the more expensive brands so I began hunting for the same thing but a little cheaper.

Enter... Got 2b Powder'ful Volumizing Styling Powder! (only $5.99!)

Just a few taps of this at your roots creates amazing lift and makes my hair feel fuller and thicker as well as LOOKING fuller and thicker! (I will post before and after pics at some point!) I'm obsessed. It also helps hold the style... and works AMAZING for updo-s. I don't have to worry about my hair being too soft and the style falling out after using half a bottle of hairspray to try and hold it in place! I'm so excited about this new little product that I just had to share!

So of course I've been reading about all of the new fall trends this year. Lately I've been hearing all about the new nail polish colors... some excite me, some... well not so much. Apparently, Chanel "Peridot" is "the" color for fall.

I'm sorry but I don't think I can do this one! It kind of reminds me of Shrek. On the bright side, cream/neutrals and vampy reds are also in... I think I'll stick with those! I have the perfect red so I'm pretty excited.

Also, lets not forget it's perfect for Gamecock football!! My little game faces are just ready for me to wear them... cannot wait!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Oh my goodness... this is the greatest eyeshadow you will ever own!! You may have heard of it before, I am talking about the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

This little compact holds 12 amazing neutrals ranging from very light to dark and smoky. It's mainly "shimmery" finishes but does have 2 that are matte. It comes with an eyeshadow brush and a small tube of the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer.

What I love most about these are that you can create a light shimmery look for the day and a dark smokey look for night. The more color you build the more it darkens. It blends so well and stays on all day! LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! I've also read several reviews and everyone says it lasts FOREVER. Even better!

This is a serious must for your makeup collection. I haven't even touched my other eyeshadows since buying this. It's heaven... go buy it now!

Anna Ross & Lucas' Wedding Weekend!

This weekend was one of my BEST friends weddings! Anna Ross and I met when we were in 3 year old preschool. We used to love playing dress up and surprise surprise we fought over who got to wear the bride veil!! We've since stayed friends and grown closer through the years... we went to high school together and also went to college together! Her wedding was in Columbia and we had a blast! Of course my favorite parts was the chocolate martinis and the photobooth. Here are some photos from the evening!

Makeover Needed

I get super jealous when I see blogs where everything is just so pretty and perfect and everything just "goes together" Does anyone have any suggestions on designers I should look at for a new blog design? New Product to LOVE!

Last time I went to my hair appointment I had all intentions of getting another bottle of my beloved Moroccan Oil. Then, my hairstylist Kelly mentioned that I should get Lanza Healing Stregnth. It's the same size as the large Moroccan Oil bottle, but costs about $9 less. It also won the 2010 Allure Best in Beauty award.

After using this hidden little treasure I can say I absolutely love it and doubt I'll be going back to Moroccan Oil. I use this product the same way. One little pump on damp hair in the morning and I use a quarter size amount on dry hair while I sleep about once or twice a week. I can really tell a difference in the shine of my hair after using this product! I also feel it has contributed in keeping my hair strong so I can continue to grow it out! I went a whole 5 months without cutting my hair... that is a ridiculously long time for me!! If I keep it up that means I won't be going back to the salon until Christmas... geez! Ok, I'll prob go to get a little trim for my bday in November :) I cannot wait to have long, luscious, silky locks!

Do I have A.D.D?

Throughout my life I've often wondered if I have A.D.D. Some days I can focus quite well, while others my mind is all over the place thinking of things that are so stupid and definitely nothing to stress over. I've always been a daydreamer, but sometimes I worry myself that I get too into daydreaming that I create stress and worry over the dumbest things! Today all of this has happened inside my little brain:

When can I wear this sparkly dress again? I love it so much! (far right, obviously)

What am I going to get to eat at Mustard Seed tonight?

What am I going to cook for Brice and his roomies on Thursday?

How am I going to do my hair for Anna Ross' wedding in a WEEK AND A HALF?! Let's not forget I have like 3 hairs on my head.

What am I going to wear to the rehearsal dinner? It would be great if I could have this... eyed it the other day at Belk, it's be-a-u-tiful in person! Most likely won't be happening though.

Weekend Recap

Thursday I came home to find this lovely package sitting outside of my door...

IZZE!!! Yum! This is what was inside...

Blackberry, Grapefruit, Pomegranate & Clementine

I had never had IZZE before, so I was really anxious to try it. What is IZZE? It's pure fruit juice and a splash of sparkling water. No added sugar, caffeine or preservatives. It's very refreshing and not overly sweet like most sodas. I'd definitely buy them again, I really enjoyed the sparkling grapefruit the most!

Saturday Brice and I decided to not go to the beach and instead go look at boats. Ok, this was primarily Brice's decision... he wants a boat SO bad! This was one of our personal favorites:

Nice, right?! I think we've both decided that a 22 foot Scout in this aqua color is what we would LOVE! Well... hopefully someday we'll get to have this luxury!

After dreaming we decided to head up to North Charleston to a fairly new little restaurant Brice had lunch at with his work crew one day. EVO stands for Extra Virgin Oven. It is so cute!! I love everything about this place. {including the fact that they serve your beverage in mason jars!} I just wish they were located in Mt. Pleasant!! {I guess that's a good thing though because I'd find myself there way too often.} Another reason to love this place is the fact that EVERYTHING is local. Even the meat! Although I was really eyeing their mushroom soup {which was a special that day} I decided to get the Pistachio Pesto. I'm obsessed with pesto and could literally eat it everyday... so I thought I'd try something other than basil pesto. This pizza was amazing!

Let me just list the description here... pistachio pesto, goat cheese, créme fraîche, house mozzarella, parmigiano-reggiano, and sea salt. YUM!!

Brice chose their specialty, the Pork Trifecta.

Holy cow this was delicious... it includes: house made sweet sausage, pepperoni, smoked bacon, house mozzarella and red sauce. If you like meat... then this is your pizza!

It was a nice relaxing weekend... I definitely relaxed by taking a nap on Saturday AND a nap on Sunday. Geez... is this a sign of getting old??
